Arne Slot admitted that it's expected for doubts to be asked about his future after another convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.
The Reds endured their ninth loss in 12 games, marking the team's worst streak since being demoted in 1953-54.
They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing night at Anfield.
“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got a lot of support from the top,” Slot stated.
“It would be nice to reverse this trend and secure a win obviously but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's expected that people question you.”
He added, “I accept my position. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it is about time that we improved our results.”
Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy
Upon being questioned to provide details on his discussions with the team officials, the head coach revealed:
“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”
He mentioned, “In the normal discussions I feel the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat so far so we'll see.”
Familiar Problems and Player Response
Slot expressed regret over known shortcomings from his squad in their Champions League loss, specifically poor finishing and defensive lapses.
Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his view of the club’s predicament.
“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.
“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry internally. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the phrases.”
He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club for years.”
“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a spell of this nature with outcomes so bad.”
He concluded, “But we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we will always battle.”
“We’re going to try to help the side return to its rightful place, prove once more the values of this club and why people call it the top club in the world.”
“But right now, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
